Exotic Unique Luxurious
A 14 nights / 15 days program for discerning travelers,
who would relish the experience of staying at some of India's legendary royal palaces
turned deluxe hotels and now managed by the renowned Taj Group of Hotels.
These palace hotels have over the years received awards and accolades and are acknowledged
amongst the best luxury hotels in the world.
Rambagh Palace Jaipur: The first palace in India to be turned into a hotel in 1957,
it was the residence of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh ll, a polo player of repute and Maharani Gayatri Devi,
who Vogue magazine wrote as being one of the most beautiful women of her time.
This elegant couple probably put Rajasthan on the world tourism map and the palace hotel
has attracted celebrities from all over and still continues to do so.
The sprawling 42 acres garden featured in Peter Coat's "Most Beautiful Gardens of the World".
Umaid Bhawan Palace Jodhpur: Considered one of the world's largest private residences,
it took over 12 years to complete in 1942. The palace has magnificent views of Mehrangarh Fort
in the distance and its 24 acre gardens are a source of delight.
The Rathore dynasty has passed down to Maharaja Gaj Singh, who still resides in one wing
of this impressive palace.
Lake Palace Udaipur: Voted as one of the most romantic hotels in the country,
this white marbled palace was built as a summer retreat by Maharana Jagat Singh in the 16th century.
It rises from the still waters of Pichola Lake and is accessed only by boat.
Many visitors to Udaipur insist on staying only at the Lake Palace,
from where views of the surrounding hills, the City Palace and the magical Sajjangarh Fort
are simply gorgeous.
Falaknuma Palace Hyderabad: Recently added to the Taj's portfolio of beautiful palace hotels.
It was built in the 1880s by a Prime Minister of Hyderabad State and was acquired in 1897
by the sixth Nizam, Mir Mahbub Ali Khan.
The palace is a blend of Italian and Tudor architecture with stunning interiors-marble staircases,
Venetian chandeliers, frescoes and gilded reliefs, a large collection of rare manuscripts,
books, paintings, furniture and antiques all of which deserve to be in a museum.
The palace was not in use for decades, until Princess Ezra brought it to a sublime completion
over a ten year period of restoration and refurbishment undertaken with care and passion.
